Lots of new beginnings for me last week, excited and nervous all at once!
I attended the Maddy Shine Show up and get-booked SEO challenge (I’d would never be writing this if it wasn’t for attending this FREE course). A six-session course broken down into bite-size chunks made fun and digestible.
In anticipation of my first night out, post covid with the girls on Friday, I wanted to get the first of my red leather halos finished. A milliner has to allow themselves to make a headpiece for themselves every now and again! My hats are currently being influenced by Russian architecture, décor, and objects of desire. The red leather screams Russian art to me, let the creation commence.
Wednesday: Blog confidence growing, whilst tunned into Maddy I was cutting the leather flowers out, the structure of the halo it complete, now it needs embellishing.
Thursday: I was made redundant from GSK, I’ve been working in HR there for the past 5 years, they have been a great company to work for, I was so lucky to be in a team with so many amazing people. It was an emotional day, but one I am hoping has given me the push/shove I needed to focus more on developing my millinery business.
Friday: Halo finished and ready to wear. Enjoyed a brilliant night out at The Crown in Chertsey every Friday and Saturday they have live music we were really treated to a brilliant band: Grooveline - Soul, Funk, and Disco, they certainly got the dance floor filled. My first leather halo was certainly road-tested; I love it when a headpiece can be worn for more casual outings, but wouldn’t be out of place at a more formal occasion. My first night out to see live music, post covid certainly was great fun, it was amazing to see some of my dearly, missed friends.
To view my portfolio of current ready-to-wear, unique, handmade, hats, fascinators, hairbands, including the first three from the Russian-inspired collection A Little Bit of Sparkle. To purchase a ready-to-wear headpiece, visit my Esty store, to pre-order a red leather halo or enquire about a bespoke hat use the contact form on my website.
Next week I will be sharing the process: How The Base For Red Leather Halo’s Are Made. I hope to see you then, stay well everyone.
Happy hat wearing
